Progress Reporting
This course will use rubrics that will serve as a general guide to monitor progress during the course. Student progress will be assessed every three weeks. The intent of the rubrics is not to force everyone to learn the same way, but rather to ensure every student acquires a requisite set of basic skills necessary to be a well-rounded musician. As such, the course will emphasize universal skills such as rhythm, chord progressions, music theory, performing a variety of styles, etc. Students will be encouraged to use the skills gained during the course to pursue their own musical goals during and after completion of the course. An evidence-based reporting approach will be used in this course. Points will be awarded according to the course rubrics and assignment grades will be determined as follows:
4 = 100% - advanced proficiency
3 = 90% - proficiency
2 = 70% - approaching proficiency
1 = 60% - developing foundational skills
0 = 25% - little/no evidence of proficiency
