This course will use assignments that will serve as a general guide to monitor progress during the course. Student progress will be formally assessed every three weeks. The intent of the assignments is not to force everyone to play guitar the same way, but rather to ensure every student acquires a requisite set of basic skills necessary to be a well-rounded musician. As such, the course will emphasize universal skills such as technique, chord shapes and progressions, music theory, performing from a variety of notation, rhythm, etc. Students will be encouraged to use the skills gained during the course to pursue their own musical goals during and after completion of the course.
